Guanyin Bamboo (Bambusa multiplex 'Fernleaf')

Named after Guanyin, the Bodhisattva of Compassion, this bamboo is noted for its graceful elegance. It blends harmoniously with the surrounding Huizhou-style architecture. Once used in tool-making and cooking, it now serves primarily as a symbol of peace and longevity.

The name derives either from its willow-like branches (resembling Guanyin’s sacred vase), or from its evergreen vitality, echoing Guanyin’s eternal care. In Chinese symbolism, it represents purity, humility, and moral integrity—values deeply embedded in Huangling’s cultural soul.
