Qingming Festival: A Time of Remembrance and Spring Beauty in Huangling


TheQingming Festival, also known as Tomb-Sweeping Day, takes place each year betweenApril 4th and 6th. As both a traditional Chinese festival and a solar term marking seasonal change, Qingming is a time for honoring ancestors and embracing the renewal of spring.

In Huangling, Qingming coincides with themost breathtaking season of the year. The village is surrounded by terraced fields that burst into bloom with goldenrapeseed flowers, creating a stunning, layered landscape. With guidance from Huangling villagers, guests can usemugwort juice to knead green dough, then fill it with a savory mixture ofwild onions, radish, tofu, and cured meat. Shaped into charming forms, these festive snacks are as fun to make as they are to eat.
