The Shuhe Hall

The Shuhe Hall, originally an official residence, is renowned for its brick-carved gatehouse, which is dubbed the "Cultural Gate." Although this official residence features a common type of inscribed plaque gate, its overall design, with a crescent-shaped window frame combined with an octagonal window, and the upturned eaves and interlocking tiles of the gate canopy, exudes an imposing grandeur. The water-polished blue bricks are meticulously carved with a wide variety of human figures. The inscription "Jie Ying Qi Ling" (Outstanding Talent Arises from Diverse Sources) on the lintel reflects the owner's philosophy that "a hero's origin is irrelevant."
